Johannesburg's OR Tambo International Airport is a curious place between midnight and 5am. Choirs of cleaners whistle, intone and chant while they work; security officers doze in the corner as an alarm rings at the BIDVest bank across from the bench I write this at... and Mugg & Bean continue to make the worst cup of coffee in the world. Just 2 hours until Vida opens... hooray! All the more frustrating as I have a kilo of fine Kenyan coffee beans in the trolley next to me... but no machine to use them in. Ah well, they'll have to wait until Cape Town sometime later this morning. Just back from 8 days in Kenya, so expect to see stories on Mombasa and the Maasai Mara coming out soon. A few fun pieces on the way in the Sunday Times and The Weekender soon, so keep an eye out.
