Mexico's tourism industry looks set to be in for a rough few years, as the world seizes onto the thrilling idea of a new pandemic virus sweepign across the globe. As CNN and the like bandy about comparisons to the 1918 Spanish flu which killed millions (conveniently leaving out all that detail about progress in medical science), tourists are leaving Mexico in droves... and are unlikely to return for some time. Tourism is a notoriously fickle industry, and travellers will avoid a destination at the slightest whiff of a seciurity worry. Kenya, for instance, is still battling the effects of post-election violence, 16 months down the line. And that was violence restricted largely to rural areas and urban slums. So, perhaps not a good time to invets in Mexican leisure stocks. Remember, you can follow all the Swine Flu updates at http://travel.iafrica.com/bulletinboard/.
